Who we are
Mitchell Tax Law is a federal tax controversy law firm based in Houston, Texas. Our website is mitchelltaxlaw.com. You can reach us at (713) 909-4906 or info@mitchelltaxlaw.com.
Information we collect
We collect information in two ways: automatically, when you visit the site, and directly, when you choose to give it to us.
Automatically collected. Like most websites, our servers and analytics tools (such as Google Analytics) log standard technical information: IP address, browser type, device type, pages viewed, referring URL, and timestamps. This information is used in the aggregate to understand site usage and improve the site. We do not attempt to identify individual visitors from this data.
Information you provide. If you fill out a contact form, schedule a call through our scheduling tool, subscribe to our email list, upload a file through our secure upload portal, submit feedback, or make a payment, we receive the information you choose to share. That typically includes your name, email address, phone number, and a brief description of the matter you’d like to discuss. Some forms may include additional fields you fill in voluntarily.
Cookies. We use a small number of cookies for site functionality (such as remembering whether you’ve dismissed a notification bar) and for analytics. You can disable cookies in your browser settings; the site will still work, though some convenience features may not.
How we use your information
We use the information you provide to respond to your inquiry, schedule and conduct consultations, send you the articles or updates you’ve subscribed to, process payments you’ve authorized, and operate and improve the site. We do not sell your information, and we do not share it with third parties for their marketing purposes.
Service providers
We use a small number of reputable third-party services to run the site and the practice — for example, our website host, our email and scheduling tools, our payment processor, our online review platform, and our file-upload service. These vendors only receive the information they need to provide their service to us, and they are contractually obligated to protect it. If you submit information through one of these tools, that vendor’s privacy policy also applies to your submission.
Confidentiality and attorney-client privilege
Submitting information through our website does not, by itself, create an attorney-client relationship. We do our best to keep what you share with us confidential, but please do not send confidential or sensitive details — such as the specifics of your tax matter, account numbers, or documents — through an unencrypted web form or email until we have agreed to represent you and have established a secure channel. If you need to send something sensitive before that, please call us at (713) 909-4906 to discuss the best way to deliver it.
Security
We use commercially reasonable measures to protect the information we collect, including encrypted connections (HTTPS) for the website, and reputable, security-focused vendors for file upload and payments. No system is perfectly secure, however. We recommend you treat any information sent over the internet as potentially accessible to third parties, and we encourage you to call us if you need to share anything sensitive.
Retention
We keep information you submit only as long as we have a legitimate business or legal reason to keep it — for example, to maintain client files, comply with our professional and recordkeeping obligations, respond to follow-up questions, or honor your email subscription. You can ask us to delete information we hold about you at any time, subject to any obligations we have to retain it.
Your choices
You can unsubscribe from our email list at any time using the link at the bottom of any email we send. You can ask us what information we have about you, request a correction, or ask us to delete it by emailing info@mitchelltaxlaw.com. You can also configure your browser to block cookies or send a “Do Not Track” signal; we honor these signals where we are able.
Links to other sites
Our site links to outside resources — court opinions, government websites, articles, and our own scheduling and payment tools hosted by third parties. Once you leave our site, this policy no longer applies; the privacy policy of the site you visit will govern.
Children
Our services are directed to adults. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us information, please contact us and we will delete it.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. When we do, we’ll change the “Last updated” date above. Material changes will be noted on this page; for routine updates, your continued use of the site after the change indicates your acceptance of the revised policy.
